Home Wi-Fi, Modem & NBN Troubleshooting

We diagnose the real cause of slow or dropped internet — whether it's an ageing NBN modem, a poorly placed router, channel congestion, or just an ISP issue worth escalating. Telstra, Optus, Belong, Aussie Broadband, TPG — we've worked with the lot.

/ What's included
  • NBN modem & router setup and reconfiguration — your ISP-supplied equipment
  • NBN connection drops & red-light diagnosis
  • Wi-Fi coverage diagnosis — find the dead zones and fix them
  • Router & mesh optimisation — getting the most from the equipment you already own
  • Channel & band optimisation
  • ISP coordination — we talk to Telstra/Optus/iiNet so you don't have to
  • Starlink router configuration & mesh integration (see our dedicated Starlink service)
  • Ubiquiti UniFi home networks — see our dedicated Home UniFi service
/ Frequently asked — Home Wi-Fi, Modem & NBN Troubleshooting

Why is my NBN modem showing a red light?

It depends which box has the red light — the NBN-supplied connection box, or your router. Generally: a red light on the NBN box itself means a line fault (call your ISP), while a red light on the router usually means it can't authenticate or sync with the NBN box. We've written a full plain-English guide on the blog, and we attend on-site if the 4-step reset doesn't fix it.

Will a Wi-Fi extender or a mesh system work better?

Mesh, every time. Wi-Fi extenders halve your bandwidth and create two competing networks; a proper mesh system gives you full speed everywhere with seamless roaming. If you already own a mesh kit, we'll configure and place it properly — node placement matters far more than the brand on the box.

Do you supply the modem, or do I have to buy one?

We work with what you've got. We'll set up and optimise the router your ISP sent you, or the equipment you already own — placement, channels, band steering and firmware. If your current gear genuinely can't cover your home, we'll tell you honestly what to buy and set it up once you have it.

Can you talk to my ISP for me?

Yes. ISP coordination is included in most of our Wi-Fi jobs — we'll lodge faults, escalate stuck tickets, and re-authenticate your account with Telstra, Optus, Belong, Aussie Broadband, iiNet or TPG so you don't have to sit on hold.

How do I pay for the job?

Easy Payment Onsite — EFTPOS or cash payment upon job completion. You only pay once the work is done — after we've fixed the problem, walked you through what happened, and you're happy with the result.
